2019 Wildflowers Hunt – Part I

I am starting this post with TT’s funny face. He never fails to impress me with the range of his facial expressions, cracks me up everytime when I go through our pictures after a trip.

Walker Canyon

Reading news about a potential superbloom will happen again in 2019, I started to refresh the California Wildflower Report page everyday, and finally there’s a report of poppies blooming near Lake Elsinore, voila!

I talked to Quentin about this trip, casually mentioned “it’s a bit far”. Just like I was hoping for, he didn’t pay attention to the distance, and ended up trapped in this 2 hours drive with me and TT again.

Q: We should find somewhere closer next weekend, he said, I bet there are other good places to go within 30 to 40 minutes drive.

Me: No there aren’t, flowers are popping up here.

Q: Is this worth the drive?

Me: Yes.

I was determined and told him I can’t guarantee picking a nearby hiking location for our next hike because a superbloom is going to happen, and we want to go back to Carrizo Plain again!

This trail had no shade, although it didn’t bother us in the mid February, but the trail was really popular the day we came, luckily parking here was easy.

Wait.. TT why are you eating flowers??? Spit it!!

Living in LA for 9 years makes me start to like rain, because it means vibrant colors come after.

we shall see 🙂
