June at Palos Verdes Bluffs and Rubio Canyon

What’s up guys! let’s talk about June! I have been taking TT out to self service dog wash for quite a while since I can no longer handle having a massive hair storm in the house after each shower. I still prefer to bathe him by myself but dealing with the after cleaning it’s just too much.

Palos Verdes Bluffs Trail

Palos Verdes Bluffs is one of the places we visited in June. We were so confused in the beginning because the trail is hidden behind a golf course. Could be us misunderstanding the trail entrance. Palos Verdes Bluffs is more of a walking path not much of a hike.

We saw signs everywhere and they also provide poop bags along the way, but it’s a bit unclear where dogs can go where they can not. Also the majority of this path is on a wide dirt road with zero shade, be careful not to get burned!

So we finally got a clear idea that dogs aren’t allowed to go down to the beach area.

Ocean view is just okay, TT definitely didn’t enjoy the heat building up.

We didn’t set TT up for this photo shoot. When TT found these flowers, he immediately dove in to hide under the mini shade.

Thankfully Quentin helped to carry TT back, I didn’t expect the heat especially by the beach. We saw other dogs also trying very hard dodging the sun. I think visiting here in cooler months may bring people a better experience. But still I won’t describe this as a must go pretty hike.

Rubio Canyon Trail

Few weeks later we came to the Rubio Canyon Trail. I spotted some photos taken around this area with promising shades in it. Worth a try I guess?

The entrance located at a drive way turn, in between 2 houses. Look closely or you will miss it.

This trail feels abandoned without anyone maintaining it. We saw wires and broken pipes along the way.

There was a bit of shade here and there as we went down. When we reached the bottom I saw several filthy puddles filled with flies where the sun couldn’t hit. I screamed when I was too late to stop TT from drinking the dead water. And of course that gave him an unpleasant diarrhea the next morning.

On the Alltrail website listed this as an out and back hike, but we actually found a way to make it a loop trail, so back we didn’t have to go pass that pool of water again coming back.

There were shades, but still not enough, TT’s tail started to drop.

I feel bad for this little one.

We tried to carry him once again for a short distance on the way back. Whenever TT tried to find shade he got foxtail seeds all over himself. I imagine it must be really painful to walk with needles between your toes 🙁

Oh btw, we did the “what the fluff challenge” too. I guess my kids are just way too smart for this game. I can see the expression of “What are you doing? are you 5?” on their faces. I felt judged.
