Winter Wonderland Oregon 3 : Dillon Falls | Tumalo Falls
Even though I spent a lot of time planning this trip ahead, I still made a mistake, I didn’t know there’s no way we could get any closer to any lakes here during winter. We crossed out all the lake trips and picked two waterfalls to visit on the fourth day. All good, no problem!
It snowed a tone that day on December 29 in the morning. Without delay, we went to the visitor center to make sure all the roads are still accessible before leaving the town.
Dillon Falls
When we arrived at Dillon Falls, there was no one there, snow covered all the tracks. We parked near the small lake because we couldn’t drive any further in without losing traction.
As a matter of fact, everyone was scared because no one can be sure where the edge of the lake is, even the some lightly frozen area was covered with snow.
For this reason, we kept yelling at all the pups to stay away from the lake.
TT was way too happy to play in deep fluffy snow.
I finally put on my gloves that day after not being able to feel my fingers. The struggle was I can’t feel the camera buttons anymore after having gloves on.
That day was so much fun and out of control in snow.
Look at you! you have a white beard!
It was a surprise to me to see TT’ coat doesn’t catch snow at all, he can get all of them off with a single shake.
On the contrary, this is how a not snow proof coat looks like.
It could even turns into snow ping pong balls clinging on their bellies, Ouch!
The faint track might be from someone else’s ski in the early morning. TT maybe we should move to Iceland since you are built for snow.
Here comes a little snow tank!
My camera were covered with snow already, but we couldn’t stop taking pictures.
The waterfall wasn’t far away from the location we parked, about a mile away.
I was so disappointed, unfortunately the water was in a ugly yellow, forgive me I don’t even want to upload a photo here.
Tissue and Tinkerbell, they were drowning in snow.
Here another perfect Christmas card photo get!
Aren’t you a handsome wolf!
Although I wasn’t crazy for the waterfall but the river itself was very pretty, we didn’t stay too close to the river for long because I was worried TT would fall into the water, don’t think it’s possible for anyone to rescue him if that ever happened.
Let’s stay away from the potential danger, my heart is really fragile recently because of your pervious accident…
TT you need a shave!
Tumalo Falls
It was 2:30pm already when we arrived at Tumalo Falls. The snow didn’t stop and it’s finally deeper than TT.
Watch out! here comes a snow alligator!
TT had great fun creating his own snow maze.
Strong wind came occasionally, sometimes I had to walk backwards to protect my gears.
We met a guy riding his snowmobile that day, the gasoline smelled horrible whenever he drove by.
Tiru eventually refused to walk. We created a backpack with T mom’s jacket so she can carry her around.
These two girls also shivered so much.
People we ran into told us we have to walk for another 2 hours to get to the waterfall, and we were not even halfway there.
Are you going to attack us?
SNOW CANON BALL!!!!!
ATTACK!!!!
Finally we decided to give up on reaching the waterfall and leave around 4:00pm. If not we will probably need a rescue team later on for sure due to the heavy snow and 3 sad pups.
This was our last day in snow. I love this city Bend way more than LA.
